You are invited to join us for this workshop at the Mindfulness Practice Center on Sunday, May 18 from noon - 2 pm.
Stress is an unavoidable part of life in the U. S. these days. Some stress is chronic (anxiety about the current political situation, the economy, etc.). Some stress is acute (yourself or a loved one facing a serious medical crisis, getting laid off, etc). There is much evidence documenting how resilience and mindfulness can help us so that we can not only survive stressful times but even thrive. The good news is that resilience and mindfulness can be learned!
In this workshop we will teach and discuss a meditation practice called Calm Abiding that can help us to develop a state of calm that can support us during the day. Together we will also share what we are currently doing to stay resilient, and learn new practices as we connect with each other in a thoughtful, non-hurried manner. We see this as the first of several stand alone workshops, each of which will focus on mindfulness meditations and practices that can help to develop resilience.
Our Center strives to create an environment that is welcoming to all.
The workshop will be led by Tom Bassarear and Carlo LaScala. Tom has been leading Monday night meditations at the Center since 2002 and has taught many mindfulness courses in various settings. Carlo has been practicing mindfulness for the past 18 years. Suggested donation for this workshop is $20; however, no one is ever turned away for lack of funds.
Our Center is at 103 Roxbury St., Room 301, and the building has an elevator.
Registration is encouraged because seating is limited. For further information or to register, contact Tom at tombassarear@gmail.com or 603-547-7931.
