Second Sunday Sangha Potluck and Film Night at MMPC

  • Monadnock Mindfulness Practice Center 103 Roxbury St., Suite 301 Keene, NH, 03431 USA (map)

We are excited to launch our first monthly Potluck and Film Night event, running from 5 PM to 7-ish on Sunday, Sept. 13, and continuing on the second Sunday of each following months. We hope you’ll mark your calendars and plan to attend whenever possible.

Here’s what we envision:

We’ll start the potluck around 5 pm with a moment of appreciation and gratitude for the food, its makers, and all the sources and conditions that brought it to our table. In the spirit of mindfulness, we’ll serve ourselves and eat for the first 10 minutes in noble silence, so we can enjoy a mindful eating practice together. At the sound of the bell, we’ll resume conversation until it’s time to start the film. After the film, we'll have an opportunity to share any ideas sparked by the movie, with prompts to guide the discussion.

Below are a few requests to help the event run smoothly.

● Please arrive about 10 minutes early with a dish you’ve prepared that fits your dietary needs. For example, if you eat a gluten-free or vegan diet, make a dish you can eat and bring enough to share with about 8 to 10 other folks. If you have no dietary restrictions, bring whatever you like, with enough to share with 8 or 10 people. Remember that at potlucks, people don't typically take a full serving of any one dish so they can taste a little of the many offerings.

● Please label the ingredients in your dish in case they contain allergens for others.

● Please bring your own plates and utensils, but don't worry if you forget: we will have extras at the center for anyone who forgot.

● If you can't contribute a meal, you can bring a beverage to share or come with nothing; no one will be turned away.

● If possible, please RSVP with your intention to attend so we can prepare the space for the appropriate number of participants. If you know what dish you plan to bring, please share that information with us, but it’s not mandatory if you are still deciding. You can always show up anyway, even if you haven’t RSVPed.

For RSVPs and any questions or concerns, please contact Atta or Diana atakurzmann@nmhschool.org or dlbdamato@gmail.com

We are looking forward to coming together once a month for these events to nourish and enrich our community in body, mind, and spirit! We hope you’ll join us!
